To all members:
- Please consider renewing your membership for 2020 through the website www.adkfta.org.
- Riding areas AFTA supports and maintains are: Old Forge (McCauley and Maple Ridge), Hinckley State Forest, Albert Woodford State Forest (Tassle Hill, Brookfield and Waterville areas), New Hartford Town Park, Hamilton College and Caroga Lake.
- 2020 Projects:
- Old Forge – complete McCauley skill park, complete Road Trip trail around backside of McCauley, build new two way trail from bottom of chairlift to meet up with Road Trip. All of this work is complete 100%.
- Waterville – more work is being completed with machine work and hand work to expand this system and meet up with Tassle Hill.
- Tassle Hill – they have been busy building and improving this trail system also, look for new areas on Trailforks.
- Hinckley – new trails have been added this spring. Really fun and flowy.
- Caroga Lake – the newest addition to AFTA. They received a $75,000 grant to build a brand new trail system. It will consist of a 2-3 year project of machine built and hand built trails. The build crew will be starting this July 1st.
- AFTA Board members – as of now it consists of myself and Matt VanSlyke. We would welcome people to get involved to grow this organization. Areas of expertise that would be helpful are: fundraising, grant writing, social media and membership. Please contact either of us if you are interested.
- Volunteer Days – we have not organized any this year as of yet. We will be setting some up for the Caroga Lake project and other areas that will need some work. Keep your eyes open for future dates.
- Fundraising – due to what’s happening right now, the funding from Towns, Counties and Grants are very limited. We have raised some money through donations. AFTA is a 501c3 organization so donations etc. can be tax write offs. If you know of any organization or individual that would like to make donations, please do so through the website, www.adkfta.org, or mail in to our PO Box. AFTA will earmark donations to specific projects if requested.
- McCauley Bike Fest – as of right now the bike fest WILL be taking place and scheduled for October 3-4th. Here is the website and will be updated as things progress. https://www.adirondackmountainbikefestival.com
