On behalf of Adirondack Foothills Trails Alliance (AFTA), we would like to thank you for your membership in 2021. Your support helps us continue our mission of expanding and improving mountain bike access across Central New York and the Adirondacks. The generous support of individuals like you makes it possible for AFTA to exist and to make the mountain biking experience better for everyone. We have some exciting projects planned for 2022 and would greatly appreciate your continued support.
Thank you for your support,
Chuck Schweitzer, Matt VanSlyke, Nick Mattice
- 2022 Projects:
- Old Forge – The Town of Webb has been awarded a $250,000 grant through the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation for expansion of the mountain bike trail system at McCauley Mountain Recreation Center in Old Forge. The plan is to add 7-9 miles of trails of machine and hand built behind McCauley Mountain in the area called Little Moose. It will be a mixture of beginner, intermediate and expert trails.
- Caroga Lake – The Town of Caroga has committed to $60,000 over the next two years to continue expanding the Wheelerville Trails. These will be machine and hand built.
- Waterville – More work is being completed with machine work and hand work to expand this system and meet up with Tassle Hill.
- Tassle Hill / Janis Road– The crew have been busy building and improving this trail system also. This will continue in 2022. Look for new areas on Trailforks.
- Hinckley – Check out some of the new trails that were added in 2021.
- Volunteer Days – We have few tentative volunteer days planned for 2022. These will be as needed in Old Forge and Wheelerville trail systems.
- Fundraising – Due to what’s happening right now, the funding from Towns, Counties and Grants are very limited. We have raised some money through donations. AFTA is a 501c3 organization so donations etc. can be tax write offs. If you know of any organization or individual that would like to make donations, please do so through the website, www.adkfta.org, or mail in to our PO Box. AFTA will earmark donations to specific projects if requested. This year we will be doing membership levels. Below are the details. Membership cards will be provided to each member this year.
- Single Membership- $35
- Family Membership- $70
- Rigid - $150 (Includes AFTA hat)
- Hardtail - $250 (Includes AFTA Rtic Tumbler)
- Full Suspension - $500 (Includes AFTA Rtic hat and tumbler)
